The sightings began in the remote Ryukyu Islands, somewhere south of Okinawa. Legends of kami and shini-gami, bizarre creatures of Nippon lore were no stranger to the people of this remote locale, and now they walked the earth, an unfolding menagerie of the grotesque.

Was it the earthquake? Was it the tsunami that followed? Was it the radiation from when the crack in the ground deep below the facility opened wide, sending fissuers through the centrifuge walls resulting in a total meltdown? Was it the experiments and research done in sequestered laboratories in and around the place, using the massive power source to explore and possibly pervert the laws of physics and nature? Whatever it was, the aberrations that resulted are the stuff of nightmare and legend.

Whether demons expelled through the rift in the earth, or some form of nuclear spawned monstrosities, they are known collectively as the “Kaku no Oni”, “Nuclear Devils”.

This series began a few years back, continued for three creatures and frankly, was abandoned due to reaching some of the technical and artistic limitations of their software platform at the time, that being Poser.  Fast forward to today, with the advances and amazing capabilities in Daz Studio which present a whole new realm of potentials for realism and bringing my vision for these nightmarish creatures to life. With that in mind, we’ve re-launched the line, currently at CGBytes (www.cgbytes.com) with the third creature of the series, “Senshu Kami Ippon” to release in early Dec.

As the series is released, each one will have it’s own short piece of backstory that reveals some aspect of the future horror-world of Kaku No Oni, where nuclear nightmares and natural disasters meet with demonic monstrosities who each reveal some aspect of my vision for a Japanese Nuclear Monster setting gone very, very dark. -Les
